Scott County E9-1-1 Director Tim Addington would like to provide an update on the status of 9-1-1 addressing.  At this time, all 9-1-1 addresses have been sent to the United States Postal Service in Charleston, WV for the conversion from the old style addressing to the new 9-1-1 address format.  He has been advised that Scott County is third in line for the conversion, so no addresses have been converted to date.  The USPS cannot give a firm date as to when the address conversion will be completed for Scott County.

Citizens are to be advised that the 9-1-1 emergency phone number is active and can be dialed for emergency situations.  The old number, 386-9111 is also still active for all non emergency calls to Central Dispatch.  When dialing 9-1-1, citizens will still have to give directions to their location, due to the address conversion not being completed.

The 9-1-1 department is issuing new 9-1-1 addresses for all new construction within the county.  This includes new houses, doublewide mobile homes and singlewide mobile homes.  Before the address can be created for the new structure the 9-1-1 office will need to GPS the structure upon the completion of a footer inspection by the building code official.   9-1-1 also issues new addresses to anyone newly moving into an existing structure where they have not had mail service established.

In order for staff to perform the necessary field work for the maintenance of the 9-1-1 system the office hours for the 9-1-1 administrative office for assigning addresses are:

Mondays 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Tuesdays 8:30 AM- 1:00 PM

Fridays 8:30 AM- 11:30 AM
